Owls are taking over !!!!

My goodness here goes for usual apology for leaving it so long between blogs - no excuse other than I am just not organised .

I took the plunge last week and split my shop into 2 shops Dottydaisies is here which has all my whimsical creatures and Dottydoesdaises is here with all my brooches in - I have to admit the first shop is doing really well and I have no owls left ! I am going to have to do some shameless plugging to get the second one going . I have also set up a facebook fanpage here - the 50th fan will get a little suprise .

Felling a little confused and lacking in direction - need to make some lists and stick to them so I can get that lovely 'I am sooooo good ' feeling when you tick things off .

I have  made a decision to really plug my owls and have just made these
Mama owl and baby
All handsewn and made from an upcycled cashmere jumper - she is sooo soft - she will be in my shop as soon as I can get a better photo.I am toying with some ideas to make my owls a little different ;
1. All owls have a baby with them
2. All owls come with their own felt branch to perch on
3. All owls come with a matching hairslide
4.All owls come with their own mouse !!!! not my suggestion and a little to gruesome for me !
5.All owls come with a matching owl brooch made from same felt
Any other ideas welcome
I am also planning to start making personalised felt dolls but need a day of child free sewing to get to grips with that .
I just wanted to show you some things I love at the moment

How lovely and can be bought here
I long for one of these but it aint ever going to happen

You can look , admire and save your pennies for one here
Finally want to say thanks to Mia for my lovely ring

you can look at her shop here My ring was supposed to be for mothers day but nobody can get it off me !!!!
have a good day x love SarAH

Things we love in our house.

We love Widget and friends and are slowly but surely gathering a good collection

We have Loralie,Watson,Wol,Private B and George the thnake, if you too fancy starting a collection have a look here . Anna is one clever lady and we love her bunnies .

Way back in January we went to Cardiff with my nieces to Cardiff museum to see a exhibition on my absolute  FaVoUrItE childrens author in fact scrap that , lets just say author because I enjoy her work just as much as my children

My eldest loves Clarice Bean ,there have been occasions where I have not been able to continue reading these stories due to the fits of giggles they tend to bring on,

Little G got to dress up as an alligator,

I want one !!

The princess and the pea - how amazing is this !!The girlies played for ages .

An actual scene from the book

I aBsOlUtElY love her artwork ,and reading about how she goes about it was soooo interesting - how I
would love to have a talent like hers.

Little Miss have a quick rest .We all enjoyed ,all learnt something and all agreed that Lauren Childs is the BeSt.

As you know I love buttons , I use them on brooches, jewelleryand my creatures, my daughters love sorting them, Little G howevere as you can see above has a complete new use for them -beds for his people !!

Two new makes

Matilda the Owl

and  a new design ,

Tallulah the mousie - what do you think of her all comments welcome !! She was born out of the need to use up the long thin sleeves from the upcycled jumpers I use .

Hope you had a good weekend and a nice Valentines day . Can i just say thanks to Black Cats Whiskers
for giving me a sunshine award - it wa sa while back so I feel bad for not mentioning it , especially as it is my first - so thank you  x x x

Oh thats what I used to do !!!

I have just returned from a day of supply teaching the -first in 2 1/2 years - I survived and am going back tomorrow but I must admitt to looking forward to wednesday - back to my little boring routine that I have grown to love .
We had a lovely weekend Saturday on the beach sunday pooching about - however I was a little productive - have a look here , it all got a little confusing with brooches , creatures etc.. so now dottydaisies is for bunnies ... and dottydoesdaisies is for accessories.
I mentioned in my last post that wet felting was fast becoming the addiction of the day well here are some of the fruits of my soggy labour

No subtle colours for me me - I LOVE COLOUR.!

A little bit of needle- felting

A lot of people loved

so I made a mini brooch version like this -

I am on a roll now so may try to get some things on etsy  -hope you had a good day  love SaRaH X

lets hope absence makes the heart grow fonder !!!

Wow thats one big impressive gap between blogs even if I do say so myself -  I have no valid reason for this apart from the following :  1. What started as 'I am going to clean out the kitchen cupboards' turned into a complete house overhaul ie. new wardrobes , shelving etc etc and it is still not finished !Its one of those jobs I wish I had never started !!!
                                              2. I  am getting really annoyed with my inability to take good photos and the speed or lack of.. that I take to edit them .

                                             3. I have rediscovered the joy of wet felting again - my lovely sister in law introduced me to it over 2 years ago but have not done a lot until recently - now I am up to my elbows in fibre , olive soap and bubble wrap but i do love it soooooo much x

Like I said no real reason but lets get to the crunch- my long overdue giveaway  - and the winner is ( pulled out from my favourite flowery dress)    HAPTREE - with her felty fish idea so e mail me with your details  - dottydaisies@hotmail.co.uk.

Here are a few piccies of recent makes,

Millicent Owl made from an upcycled jumper (already flown to new home )

Maude owl - a very gentle sleepy little lady .

My bunnies with a pouch -handy for the little carrot pal or even better for some mini eggs- the pouch did start off a bit of a debate with littleG as to whether its a bunny or kangaroo " only kangaroos have pockets mummy "

This is Laila bunny .

A little bunny in a carrot keychain - the bunny can come out for a little hop around !

bunnies ,bunnies , bunnies everywhere !!!!

one of my favourite brooches

twitawoo !

Hopefully next time I will show you the corsage and bracelet I have made for myself for a wedding I am going to .

Take care SaRaH X X X

Dogs and bunnies

PLEASE DON'T FORGET MY GIVEAWAY LEAVE A COMMENT YOU CAN HAVE SOMETHING CUSTOM MADE !!!

There's a snowflake on my nose !

That's better !

Apologies to all you non dog lovers but I do love my dopey dog and watching him slip on the ice like a drunk bambi has been one of the highlights of this cold spell .

As well as slippy slidy dogs this chilly weather seems to have meant my felty buttony home has revolved around hot chocolate , tea biscuits ,cake ,pj's and films - it still feels slightly festive - I am going to come down to earth with a bump really soon .

I also seem to have developed a slight obsession with bunnies

Here is little lady no. 2 with her sock bunny ( in the rucksack) called loralie - both my girls loved their bunnies which Santa got from this lovely  lady - they come in their own little box with a badge and info on their own little blog .

This has inspired me to make some felty bunnies , I am still in process of getting good photos of them but here is a sneaky peek

A little bunny keychain.

Bunny in a carrot keychain - she does come out if you speak softly !

and my favourite but not a good photo- this lovely lady has a pocket/pouch perfect for the felty carrot character that comes with her or even better for some mini eggs - I would show you a photo of how perfectly they fit but I ate them all . I have however had a very heated and amusing debate with little G who insisted that it must be a kangaroo as only they have pouches so she may have to be renamed as a bunaroo or a kangabun or maybe not !!

I also made a mini version of this to put on a keychain

Am going to try and get to work on some brooches now
lots of love SaRaH X

Boys don't do bobs !

What a week - note to self - do not attempt to cut little boys hair with large fabric scissors and only half a brain on task , it results in devastation and bob like cut and emergency visit to hairdressers before aforementioned child returned to nursery. No photos included as living in fear of being reported for child cruelty -all blonde curls gone I am heartbroken .

However on a positive note, I have an idea I hope you like it - take part and not just think I am a little insane . Just before Christmas someone asked me to make her daughter a posh pig plushie which I did with apprehension but really enjoyed doing it -the challenge and experimenting. So I am going to do a giveaway with a difference hopefully once a month - the first starting today- you tell me what you would like me to make you and I will randomly pick one from my giveaway skirt and make it for you within in a month - it can be a brooch , a hair accessory, a plushie/softie, you can be as specific or as vague as you like ie. a purple sad dog or a felt russian doll brooch with yellow and pink in it about 8cms tall - but there are a few rules;

1,Nothing over 10 inches tall
2. Something made with felt -buttons etc you know what I work with by now
3. End date will be Saturday 18th January
4. Please keep in mind all I make is handsewn .

Is this a good idea or have I just had too much gin over the festive period? Get thinking be imaginative - a little silly if you like the more colourful the better .

This is what I have been working on in the last week,  there will be more photos to show - its different to my usual but I fancied a change - they need a little tidying up and remain nameless but are quite cute I hope you agree . They come as a pair and in a variety of colours and are completely my own design - let me know what you think as honestly as you dare - would it be worth putting them on Folksy?

Must go now to walk dog lots of love SaRaH x
